Although my current favorite toys are popmart blind boxes, keychains, or stuff animals, when I was younger I loved playing with dolls (Barbies, Bratz, Monster High, etc.) It was my favorite because I could make up stories, create connections, diy clothing and furniture for them. It was about the interaction I could make with the dolls, the way I could move them around in any position that I liked. I would even pretend I was them and have them talk to each other.
I definitely do find a connection between drawing, toys, and playing because they all push your imagination, they all contain creativity. When I am drawing I am combining a bunch of aspects or visions that I have seen in reality. With toys you can also piece things together (just like legos you can design your own outfit and hair on a doll, there are always similarities between toys that might seem so different). When your playing you are testing things out, you are moving parts just to see what is going to happen; that is the same with drawing as well. You have to start off with something on the paper or whatever material the drawing is on and then add onto it.
I would define toys and play as a way to make stories come to life, learning experiences. It is a ways to see the world in different ways (because with younger kids they can keep finding new ways to do something with or to the toy). It teaches people that there isn’t just one solution or one way to look at something. Toys make you feel happy because you are playing with it.
